18. Alexander⁴ Skirving (William³, Martyr William², William¹ Skirving of Nether Liberton) was born in Abbotshall, Fife February 24, 1811. Alexander died December 1846 in Abbotshall, Fife, at 35 years of age. His body was interred December 21, 1846 in Abbotshall, David Gray's Ground.

He married Janet Hunter in Abbotshall, Fife, March 3, 1834. Janet was born May 2, 1813. Janet was alive in 1851 being recorded in the census, at 19 Nicol Street, Kirkcaldy.

Alexander Skirving and Janet Hunter had the following children:

+ 20 i. Catherine⁵ Skirving was born May 24, 1835.

21 ii. Sophia Skirving was born in Abbotshall, Newtown July 29, 1837.

22 iii. Rachel Skirving was born in Abbotshall, Newtown July 21, 1839.

23 iv. Alexander Skirving was born in Abbotshall, Newtown January 10, 1846.
